This week’s Challenge is: Clouds!
I love sunrises and sunsets, so this was a perfect opportunity for me to show off some of the photos I’ve done for this weekly contest. Most of my photos come from Florida, but hopefully soon I will have more from other places. Enjoy!

(*Initially when I tried to find out more information about the Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois, I was taken to a park with the same name in Colorado.)
Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois is part of the Shawnee Forest. It has a very tranquil energy and is a great place to watch sunsets. It’s hard to believe that this was once a part of the ocean.
Here’s a sample of some things you can see in the Florida Everglades:

Jeepers Creepers
Beware of giant cats.

Florida Panther Crossing Sign
I’ve seen these guys at a few garage sales.

Turkey Vultures
An enemy of the Florida State Seminoles

Florida Gator

Florida Everglades Clouds & Grass

A Little Lilypad
Kermit the Frog could not be seen.

When I was a kid I was fascinated with 3-D art – holograms and 3-D viewers were my two favorite things to stare at for hours. Incorporating texture into some of my paintings gives a somewhat 3-D effect.
This is the first of a series of three sunset paintings.
The title of this piece reflects what I did to this photo. Needing a little more than the traditional blues and yellows, I painted the sky by adding bright pink using Photoshop.

I have found that some of the most dramatic photos of the sky can be taken right before a storm. With Florida being well-known for its hurricanes and drastic changes in weather, one can often find tranquility in knowing that storms always wash the dirt away.

Red sky at night is a sailor’s delight! This was another of the tradition photos I took of a Florida river around sunset. I felt that it needed more “oomph” so I tweaked it in Photoshop until I was happy with it.
Prints can be purchased here.
